Where Basic Physics is applied to Equine Hooves.

Click for The Coffin Bone Rotation Protocol.

If your Horse or Pony has recently been diagnosed with
any kind of hoof condition and you want my opinion: Click Here

My objective with this site is to build the world’s most comprehensive and easy-to-understand educational platform about the Equine hoof, where everything is proven effective in real life. I will describe the truth that becomes obvious when you apply physics to hooves, and yes, the same physics apply to everything from birds and snakes to bridges and tennis.

I don’t present a hoof care model or a trimming technique; I describe the physical foundation that affects all hooves in every aspect. When you let physics guide you through hoof care, most issues become easy to understand and rehabilitate. Issues like Hoof cracks and Coffin bone rotation become easy to both understand and rehabilitate. There are no longer any reasons to fail. It is not magic, only knowledge.

How to use this site:

This website is structured to be translated and/or read aloud automatically by your browser.
Terminology may vary between languages, but the mechanical and biological principles described here are independent of wording.

  1. Choose a segment below
  2. Listen to the AI summary (click the 3 dots in the upper right corner, choose “Listen”). This will save you a lot of time, as AI will collect and present the summary information in a concise and easy-to-understand format.
  3. If the summary has piqued your interest, then read or listen to the full protocol for details and evidence. The whole site is written in English, but you can let your browser translate and read it aloud in your native tongue.

All information on this site is and will stay free of charge for all registered members. Questions, answers, and comments will be reserved for paying members at $10 per month or $30 for 6 months. Every incoming post or comment will be monitored, and all serious questions will be answered. The reason for this “paywall” is only to sort out unserious noise that would make it impossible for serious people (like you and me) to get a good overview and easily find what we are interested in.

Share this page with every horse-loving friend you have. The bigger it gets, the more horses we will save.

C. There might also be a possibility for live Zoom calls where we discuss my very large collection of comparable cross-sections and radiographs.

Which one would you like me to publish next?

    1. Hi Keli, Yes, with correct trimming, that is unloading the peripheral part of the hoofprint, the capsule will come back down again and the condition will then disappear. It usually only takes a couple of months. If your horse has such a problem I recommend you to use my Evaluation service.

Really interesting material… I am curious and interested in many of the topics that haven’t yet been published…

But my top 3 I would love to learn from your experience would be: (which were hard to choose!):

Hoof balance, see the inside from the outside.

        Rehabbing traditional trims

NPA. If your horse is suffering from NPA it’s not NPA.

Can a heel ever be regrown also, for breakover? It seems many say no. Can you possibly elaborate on this? Thank you

I would love to read your article nr. 8, Laminitic trim, which anyone can do, nr. 9 Extreme toe shortening, a must when there is a need (I would love to know when that need is present), and nr. 16, Rehabbing traditional trims.

  2. Please do the article on the Laminitic Trim which anyone can do! My horse is in a lot of pain so that he cannot even hold a foot up. You said in one article it is possible to trim them even in this case?

    1. Thank you for you input. Yes, I know I have to do that.It is strange that crack are such a widespread problem when all 4 kind are easy to rehabilitate with trimming alone. It’s all about understanding the reasons (like with everything else).

Hi, Can you please, please share the laminitic trim? I am desperate to help my spotted saddle horse who has suffered with malformed front hooves due to laminitis for years and years. I have taken over his trimming as none of the many folks I have had trim him have ever been able to get him comfortable, get his heels back to where they should be or solve the excessive toe/dish. Thank you!

    1. Hi, An acute Laminitis trim is easy, it’s just about shortening the toes and make sure the heels are not too high, but a horse who has had the problem for long can be much more complicated and needs to be properly evaluated. You can get help with evaluation at http://www.equinehooves.com
